ANRC Rally 2005
Decorated Boat Competition
The decorated boat competition was the first event towards the coveted Amber plate. All clubs compete in the events as it is vital to score as well as possible. The event usually involved spending a day decorating one of the boats with material supplied by the ANRC, to the theme of the rally, this year being The Battle of Trafalgar. The weather did not permit movement of the boats safely, so an alternative had to be found.
The alternative was to supply dinghy's the each club, in a marquee and decorate them . As all the clubs with one exception were in the marquee, you can imagine, that innovative ideas were shared. That was the polite way of really saying COPIED.
The event commenced at 9.30am and was judged at 5pm. Most teams worked solidly throughout.
As one can well imagine due to the event theme, clubs were asked to make the small dinghy's into HMS Victory. A daunting task.
Much fun was had by all and the winners scoring 8 points, were Oundle Cruising Club.
Now see how the boats were built.
Anthony looking puzzled with the instructions |
Helen sponging brown on black to give aged look. Oh that's a good idea thought the other clubs. !! |
Eilish painting the bow ready to do battle with MNCC in front.
