A.N.R.C. Rally

This year the ANRC Rally was  hosted by Peterborough Cruising Club. On the weekend commencing  Friday 28th to Monday 31st June.

Although the rally did not commence officially until the Friday evening, boaters from all the ANRC started arriving some 2 weeks before. Thanks to the hospitality of PCC all arriving boats were allocated safe moorings and permitted to stay both before and after the rally. There were over 150 boats and also many day visitors including some caravaners. All were made extremely welcome by PCC who had worked extremely hard to prepare the site which included adequate car parking in the adjacent farmer field.

The theme this year was World War II and as other years there was great participation by all visiting clubs.

The events started with a bang on the Friday evening, with a hearty  Welcome followed by Wartime entertainment hosted by Steve Perry.

Saturday saw Cruiser handling competition, childrens Auntie Polly cup events, rope throwing, cooking competition, junior rowing, decorated boats competition and ending with a dance to the Johnny Harris Band. There was also the judging of the decorated boats competition.

Sunday commenced with Church Parade, an all day treasure hunt, cruiser handling competition, side stalls and table top sale, youth endeavour, childrens Auntie Polly cup events, its a knock out and finally a concert with entertainment provided by the clubs. There was also the judging of the illuminated boats competition a very popular event..

The final day Monday consisted of a tug of war, narrow boat tug of war, grand auction, raffles and draws, prize giving and the rally ended with a fly past of a Lancaster bomber.

Everyone had a fantastic time thanks to the ANRC, hosts of the rally PCC and all the other hard working people who gave their time to make this event a great success.

Next year the event will be hosted by Northampton CC

Look forward to seeing you there.
